Sibling Model Certification Process

A Sibling Model Certification is a streamlined certification process for devices with minor firmware modifications and no significant hardware differences. No changes are allowed to the audio player implementation compared to the base model, and the sibling model must also be compatible with the same toolchain as the base model.

Prerequisite:

Soundtrack must already certify the base model before a sibling model can be certified. See the SDK certification Process page.

Step-by-Step Process

Verify Hardware Compatibility

  • Confirm that the SDK built with the base model’s toolchain is fully compatible with the sibling model. If multiple toolchains have been provided by Soundtrack in your previous projects, specify which toolchain is being used for the sibling model.

Implement Unique Hardware Identifier

  • Assign a unique hardware identifier for the sibling model, this is done through vendor_device_name in the splayerapi-5.h and provide Soundtrack with the complete list of identifiers for each sibling model.

Additional Requirements

  • If the sibling model is sold by a different company than the original base product, Soundtrack requires a direct contact person from that company. The company will receive an invitation to a Soundtrack Demo account and through that process accept our GTCs, including our SDK terms of use.

Once the above steps are completed and you have submitted the toolchain and hardware identifier information to Soundtrack, we will review your submission and confirm whether the sibling model is certified and can be released.
